Furniture – Spatial awareness, when it comes to furniture, functionality, style, and your space, dimensions are all important, while also considering material quality and budget. To start, I define your style and assess how each piece will be used, then your room is measured to ensure a proper fit and good traffic flow. Key design principles include creating a focal point, achieving balance, and using proper scale and proportion to create a harmonious and functional space.
Each client and project is unique, some want a personal service, where I shop with the clients and advise on what best suits them and their needs.
For a more bespoke service I personally design one off individual pieces, I have several trusted gifted craftsmen and women with whom I collaborate.
Aside from the above, I also deal with furniture upholsterers & French polishers
Lighting –My design process here begins with a client consultation, whether it’s a refurb of an existing property or a new build.
That can be a site meeting or clients emailing over their plans for me to review.
I break down my approach here 6 ways.
- IDENTIFY REQUIREMENTS – a clear understanding of the space’s end use.
- ARRANGE & CALCULATE – Determine the placement of lights to achieve the desired effect and meet functional needs.
- A LIGHTING PLAN – a visual representation of lighting the home. Floor plans highlighting light points, switches and sockets.
- LIGHTING PRODUCT SELECTION – Choosing the right type of lighting, pendants, wall lights etc. Style of switch & socket finish
- CONTROL SYSTEM – Plan and decide how the lighting will be controlled.
- INSPECT – Ensure the final installation matches the plan
